A long time ago he was a fellow student and good friend of Martin. They went to magic school together and always competed over everything. When the King had a need for a wizard at the castle he decided to choose Sam over Martin. The Kings decision to choose Sam became known as the worst mistake the King ever made. After some unethical experiments and evil ways the King fired Sam and banished him from Destainia. Sam was furious and vowed to get revenge, he even asked his old friend Martin for help. Sam after learning that Martin would not help him stole an ancient map which Martin received from his great grandfather and used it to find the Medallion. Sam is now using the Medallion’s power against Destainia by turning the land into lava.
